Nationaal Park Zuid-Kennemerland
Brasserie DenK is located at Landgoed Duin & Kruidberg in Santpoort-Noord close to Haarlem and in the middle of the Nationaal Park Zuid-Kennemerland.
This extensive woodland and dune area is home to hundreds of species of bird, red deer, roe deer, rabbits, butterflies, but also Koniks horses, Shetland ponies and Scottish highland cattle. Part of the 3,800 hectare national park is also grazed by the Netherlands’ only herd of European Bison. Year round you can go for beach walks or hike along the trails in the extensive dune landscape or the breath-taking woodlands. Short or long cycling and hiking routes provide access to this surprising piece of Dutch nature for you.
Haarlem and Amsterdam
If you want to get away for the day during your stay, you can pop into the nearby towns of Amsterdam or Haarlem. Both are a less than 30-minute drive from the estate and offer something for everyone. The Santpoort-Noord railway station is a five-minute walk away and from there Amsterdam Centraal Station is a mere 30 minutes away. 15 minutes puts you in the centre of either Haarlem or Alkmaar.
Bloemendaal aan Zee and Zandvoort
The beach at Bloemendaal aan Zee, that is home to the hippest beach clubs in the country, is a mere ten minutes away by car. Right next door to Bloemendaal aan Zee is Zandvoort, the ultimate family beach destination.
IJmuiden aan Zee
IJmuiden aan Zee might be slightly less familiar to you than Bloemendaal aan Zee, but visiting this beach is more than worth it! It is one of the widest in the country and is the ideal venue for challenging water and beach sports.
Velsen-Noord, country estates
In the 17th and 18th centuries the edge of the dunes was a favourite location for the estates wealthy merchants from Amsterdam had built in Velsen. Alongside Landgoed Duin & Kruidberg, Beeckestijn, Velserbeek, Waterland and Schoonenberg are all well worth a visit.
Recreatiegebied Spaarnwoude – an extensive nature reserve where you can walk, cycle and in-line skate – is situated between Santpoort, Haarlem and Amsterdam. Spaarnwoude also features parks, recreation areas, playing fields, a climbing wall, the indoor skiing run Snowplanet, an informative farm, a golf course and canoeing facilities.
